Huchuy Q’osqo, “little Cusco” in Quechua, is an archaeological site located between Cusco and the Sacred Valley, at a height of 3600 meters, with numerous buildings, many of them in stone. This day trip – away from the most touristic circuits – will take us to discover a beautiful lagoon, we will walk along a piece of Inca walk, and we will arrive in Huchuy Q’osqo.
We get picked up from our hotel in Cusco or the Sacred Valley at 06:00 and we travel to Piuray Lagoon, next to Chinchero. From here we begin our hike and cross a mountain pass at 4,450m above sea level. We then begin our descent along an Inca trail until we arrive in Huchuy Qosqo. We have the opportunity to visit the archaeological remains that are believed to be what was once the home of the great Inca Viracocha. We enjoy a picnic lunch and then proceed with our descent towards the town of Lamay, where we take a private transport to get to Ollantaytambo and take the train to Machu Picchu.
